Questions about TV Tuner box for PC Monitor

I read that there are TV Tuner boxes available with VGA output , so that you can watch TV on a PC monitor (PC not required). While searching google, I got this pcword link.

Anybody has any experience with such a device? Are there any other similar devices?

It would probably work fine. I don't know why you wouldn't want it in the computer though. I'm pretty sure you won't be able to record tv to the hard drive with it. I have one of these (wintv-radio), and it works beautifully (and in linux too). The image quality is pretty good, and the new software supports de-interlacing on XP.

For $50 you can get a decent TV tuner card...why go for a box that does it backwards? Especially given the low CPU power needed for them even at higher desktop resolutions.
