How much should i expect to pay for the back window and passenger windows. what kind of film is the best to get? i dont want peeling or that purple colored tint happening in a few years. what percent should i get? 25 or so? i live in california so i dont know the exact laws around here except that you cant tint the front driver and passenger window.

Mine was around $150 for two side and one back window. I'd get them tinted as dark as you can legally. The tint they used was Sungard IIRC - still looks good to this day (6 years later).

In Cali, the rears can be as dark as you want, however, the front wondows can only be 70%, legally (many factory windows are tinited to 80% already). Many people I see put 35-50% all the way around, the darker you go up front, especially if you have a coupe, makes it much more noticable to teh cops.

Any tint by 3M should be good.

I got a quote from a reputable detail/tint place near my house (CA). They quoted me $225 for my 2002 CR-V. That includes back windows all side windows (including front) and a sunstrip for the windshield. Lifetime warranty. This place has been in business 20+ years.

What kind of car are you doing?

For a 4-door/SUV type vehicle, I would recommend going super dark on the back windows, a little lighter on the rear passenger side windows, a little lighter still on the driver/front side windows. That seems to be a nice compromise and probably won't get you pulled over.

prices all vary by car, and difficulty.
Some cars are a pain in the ass to do the rear window.

Long Beach, CA. Kind of a ways from you. I'm sure there are good places in the BA that would probably charge something similar.

i have 5% and i pass by cops all the time. only time a cop ever cared was when i got pulled over for an illegal u-turn, and he knew it was unintentional so he gave me a fine for my tint instead, so i only had to pay $45 instead of $90. well worth the benefit (appearance and not having to deal with the bright florida sun). ohad it for 2+ years and i drive a lot

does tinting your windows help keep it cooler in your car during the summer or does it not really matter and it's just for looks?

I paid $160 for all the windows in my car (windshield already had the strip at the top).

I went to this place in Bellflower, CA.. $140 to remove my old tint, put "limo" tint on the rear windshield, windows and moonroof, and "dark" tint on the 2 front windows. I think if you dont have tint on your car alread and no moonroof it'd be like 100. It's guaranteed not to peel, fade or bubble for life. 2 of my friends also got theirs done there and no problems. PM me if you want the address.

Solar Gard.

In CA, you can tint the rear and rear-side windows as much as you want (even blacked-out) but the fronts are maxed at 70% NET which means basically no tint on the fronts if you want to be legal. A 4" "eyebrow" is allowed at the top of the windshield.

Cost varies by car, but it'll probably be in the $200 range. A good clean professional installation of high quality film is crucial. Don't price shop to find your tint installer, go by word-of-mouth even if it means paying a little extra to get a real pro.

buy the metallized tint, and don't pay more than 200 for a regular sedan (SUV's, vans will be more expensive for obvious reasons)

Why? It's not there to make the car look better, if that's what you're talking about.

Why? They look good and you don't get blinded driving into the late afternoon sun. And it's better than the visor because you can still see through it.

i think they look dumb, but at least not as bad as someone who has a huge PONTIAC or LUMINA sticker on their windshield.

i used to have a dark tint all the way around, but i was harassed by the cops too often, so i just stripped the whole thing and i'm back to the factory tint on my explorer. It just wasn't worth the trouble.

My same maxima!

Anyway, good you're not trying to do it yourself. One car I looked at to buy had such a horrendous tining job and it was all peeling and crap. My 00 max came pre-tinted and it still looks impecable.
