Questions about the X-fi

Well, yet another of my Audigy cards has started the problem of the random popping in the speakers that I have been unable to solve and I am looking for a new card. The same thing happened to my old Audigy 1 a few years back and then was unable to solve it, so I am attributing it to a hardware problem. I tried my onboard audio for about a month on my P5W and really just came to the point where I can't stand it--poor quality sound, sound bugs in several games, etc.

I want a card with good quality sound output--I have been happy with my Audigy 2 ZS (except for the popping) and want something at least comparable. Will the X-fi Xtreme Gamer card offer this?

I also have a question in regards to Vista. I know there were issues with hardware acceleration in games that I can't remember, have or have not been ironed out? Is it worth getting the X-fi gamer if Vista won't support its hardware accel features? And, for those of you Beta testing Vista, are the drivers somewhat stable at this point?

Thanks

Creative made drivers for vista that made it possible for hardware acceleration for games all around. It just converts whatever signal into openal on the fly in order to "accelerate" it. I would get the xtreme music also btw since its getting pretty cheap now.

Actually I read that the xtreme music does not have hardware acceleration in games?

And, what do you think of the soudn quality of the x-fi. I know thr more expensive cards have been rated well, but have found little info about the lesser expensive xtreme music and xtreme gamer?

The XtremeAudio does not, the XtremeMusic does
