Leadtek ti4200 128MB A250 LE - VIVO:

Q1 - Does this card have a GPU temp monitor?

Q2 - Is this the only 4200 card to offer 1024x768 output?

Q3 - Is this brand one of the top manufactures of quality cards (2d, support, etc.)?

Thanks!

These cards can handle resolutions up to 2048x1536. Question is, can your monitor handle it? ;)

They used to be an OEM for people like Gateway, Dell, etc. but have far surpassed that now. They manufacture cards for other people too, I forget which other companies.

No problem aznet. I'm researching this card because it will be my next purchase. I just don't know if I'm going to get it before or after the release of UT2003 Demo.

Does anyone know of a review in english?

Actually that reviews a bit useless ? I don?t know why I assumed it was for 128mb. The picture indicates it?s a 68mb Leadtek but there?s no specs within the review!

Well I can answer one of the questions you originally asked (Q2). This card cant doesn?t do 1024x768 TV output ? it?s like the other ti4200 - max res output is 800x600.

aznet,

The website says 1024x768 output. Are you using Svideo or RCA?

Sep,

I did check again and max res I get on TV out is 800x600 using svideo. Info on Leadtek site is confusing - the Ti4200 without the VIVO has a TV out res of 1024x768 but oddly the MyVIVO edition does not include the TV out res info. Compare these pages; WinFast A250 LE TD - MyVIVO Edition and WinFast A250 LE TD

Also MyVIVO ti4200 doesn?t come with the DVI to VGA adapter thats included with the ti4400 & ti4600 models.

aznet,

Thanks for pointing this out to me. This put the card at the top of my list due to the output resolutions. I looked at Pricewatch for the non-VIVO card and can't find it. Looks like I'm going for cost now!

I'm even thinking about purchasing the Leadtek ti4200 128MB A250 LE - VIVO now. Will I be able to also use this card to output to two monitors via nvidia's "nview." I couldn't find if this was compatible with the nview dual monitor thing. Can someone please confirm this? Thanks.

Post this question to aznet. He just got this card. I'm turned away because of the limited 800x600 resolution out. The none VIVO 128MB has 1024x768 out why not this one. Also the 4400 and 4600 VIVO has the higher resolution. This is the only VIVO that doesn't have this resolution. BUMMER!

What's the GPU speed on these things? I thought all ti4200s were set to at least 250mhz, but the specs on newegg say this thing is 225mhz (eww). Anyone know for sure?

I noticed all Neweggs "chipset Info" gives the same 225Mhz for all 4200 cards. I think it's a mixup at Newegg not the cards. I checked out Googlegears specs on the same Chaintech (others not mentioned). It's the 250MHz core. Checkout the reviews or manufacture's website. Leadtek's didn't mention the core speed.

They was an interesting article on TV-out chips used in various cards. The Leadtek 128mb VIVO ti4200 uses the Philips 7108 as many other ti4200 do (Gainward, Visiontek, Prolink, Aopen, Asus & Abit VIVO cards all use same tv-out chip ? so same max 800x600 res). The 64mb tv-out only versions use the Philips 7104 chip which on paper can output 1280x1024 to TV. More in article here;

http://tvtool.info/go.htm?http://tvtool.info/english/tvchips_e.htm

.. problem comes trying to find out which chipset is used in which card ? not much info from card manufacturer web sites on this. From various reviews sites, what I?ve gathered is that if a ti4200 card is offering VIVO capability then chances are its using the Philips 7108 chip and hence only 800x600 max output. The TV-out only ti4200 models usually use the Philips 7104 and output at higher res alas no video in.

GPU Clock speeds on my Leadtek 128mb VIVO 250mhz gpu (and 446mhz for mem) ? these are figures reported by Leadtek Winfox utility and RivaTuner.

dejacky: most ti4200 cards come with a DVI connector which can be used to output to second monitor. Only thing is the Leaktek 128mb VIVO doesn?t come with the DVI to VGA adapter while other card manufactures include one in the package.

My 64Mb Leadtek Geforce 4 Ti 4200 came with the DVI to VGA converter.

But the box had a sticker, that was stuck on, advertising Dual VGA out.

Oh aznet: I looked on the 64Mb Leadtek Geforce 4 MX440 as I still have it sitting in my bedroom. The chip says 7114, not 7104.
