Questions about the Inspiron 4150: Screen choice

First off, I'm not getting an insane deal on this, so if anyone knows how I could get it better, do tell.

My question had to do with the screen size.
It's 14.1" but I have the option of getting the UXGA which runs at 1600x1200
or the SXGA+ which runs at 1280x1024 I believe.

1)Which is the better one to get if I can get them at the same price?

2) I heard that in laptops, you have to run at the native resolution (whatever type of screen that is).
Is that true or if I get the UXGA can I run at the SXGA+ of 1280x1024.

A response as soon as possible would be appreciated.

I'm getting the 4150 for $1496 with the Display upgrade, 1.7GHz, 256 2-DIMM, CD-RW/DVD combo.

The biggest reason I am getting this notebook is the base weight which is 5.6 lbs, and hten the performance and price with that.

Thanks.

I would definitely get the SXGA screen which is well worth the price difference over the standard XGA.

Read my first post in this thread for more info.

sxga+ is 1400x1050... the uxga will look better at native, but frame rates in games will drop, unless you run it at non-native resolution (sxga+, or possibly xga (1024x768) if the game is still slow in sxga+) but lcds dont look as good in non-native resolutions... in other words, native uxga has better IQ than native sxga+, but native sxga+ has better IQ than uxga running at sxga+ resolution... on a 14" screen, sxga+ should be more than enough, but if you're not gonna be playing games, then uxga would probably be better if you can read smaller text.

Nah, gotta make people work for it. Plus that would have been more work for me!

My only regret on my Inspiron 8100 is the fricken 1600x1200 screen. That dammned thing is going to make me go blind. Yeah I can increase the text on most stuff but some stuff doesn't support or care for increased text sizes. I will NEVER again get a 1600x1200 screen. Next time I'm going to get the lowest res screen I can get.
