Seeing how my company is still in the dark ages and we are still using Win95 on our workstations and laptops, USB Smartmedia card readers are not an option. We are supposed to get W2K sometime in 2002, but who knows and I don't want to wait that long.

Right now my only option to download pictures from my Olympus D-460 camera is via the serial port. Argh...talk about slow.

Has anybody used the PCMCIA card readers on their laptops? If so, do you need special drivers and are they supported in Win95? I found one at Newegg.com for $25 (Mr. Flash brand). That seems like a good price but before I whip out the company CC and buy it, I thought I would check to see if it'll work.

I have seen inconsistent reports on anything by Mr. Flash. I have used the same PCMCIA S/M reader now on three successive laptops, and it is perfect. A cardbus PCMCIA reader by Hagiwara, and it handles all S/M . . . even my new 128 MB one.

It is light years faster than a serial cable connection. I gave up on that with my first Oly D320L! :)

This is my source . . . see last item on page ($49.95)
