Questions about Riddick: Dark Athena

Does the PC version come with the remake of Butcher Bay as well?

I don't mind spending $50 on it if it has both games...I haven't played the first one. What's the general consensus on the games?

Yea it has Butcher Bay. The consensus on the game is if you're already played Butcher Bay than no reason to pick it up as Dark Athena is horribly tacked on but if you haven't then get it cus BB is a great game.

I was just reading about it...is there really a 3 install limit on this?

Also, is it possible to buy it used? Will the DRM affect used copies?

Yes DRM affects any copy. It's unlimited installs on one machine but if you buy it used, you lose one install but get unlimited on yours. I'm not getting it cus of the DRM on it.

Been waiting for this one, seems kind of letdown after seeing the video review at n4g stating the many gripes with Dark Athena mainly.

I might pick it up when they do a patch later down the line to remove the DRM cus I tweak things and have installed my OS a couple times in a few months so I'd be f'd.

New OS installs and major hardware (GPU, CPU, MoBo, maybe HD/Soundcards) changes will register as a new machine. If you use up your install limit your only hope is to call customer support which may or may not call you a pirate.

I know of no way to keep track of the number of installs you have left, perhaps call customer support?

Man, all the DRM stuff is sad. And apparently the textures can be very low quality...that's a real annoyance for me.

I finished BB this morning and started DA this afternoon. Granted I'm only in the beginning (and still melee only), but this is one of the best games I've played so far this year. The acting and motion capture is better than anything I've seen before in a game. It does have some grain effect, and I'm using ambient occlusion so I have some AA jaggies. But it is still pretty good looking, and very atmospheric. So far it's a higher quality version of Butcher Bay, but I hear it goes downhill at some point. Luckily I haven't gotten to that part yet.
