Between DDR2 and DDR and PC2700 and PC2-5300, secondly is it worth paying 30 dollars more for the "2" stuff?

Not all mobo's support DDR2, specifically AMD boards. If you are going amd then just get PC3200 DDR unless you plan on overclocking

it's not a matter if it's worth it or not. like purduery already mentioned, you buy whatever your motherboard supports.
