can I install this on a msi z97 pc mate mobo? and can I use it as an os drive?

are there benchmarks comparing pcie vs the sata 3?

The P3700 should boot as long as you are running an UEFI-enabled install of Windows 8.1. Anand also put the P3700 through our client SSD suite

Bear in mind that the P3700 costs around $3 per gigabyte, so even the smallest 400GB one will set you back by over $1000. It is an enterprise drive, so the rational decision would be to wait for more client-oriented drives to show up.
