Never, ever use the "find max mem" or "find max core", because ATI tool just doesn't know when to stop, it increases your clocks beyond stability and that can cause damage to your card.

You have to increase the frequency of both memory and gpu by yourself, around 10-15 mhz per try for the gpu. After an increase, test your new clocks with ATI tool artifact tester ( around 10-15 minutes), if it's stable increase it again and so on until you run into artifacts or crashes. When that happens back it down a bit and take a big 1 hour test with ATI tool. If it passes that, play some demanding games for a couple of hours and if there are no problems, there you have your maximum gpu overclock. Do the same for the memory, but with higher increments ( maybe 20-25 mhz at a time).

Also, be careful with the temperatures. 74 C is not much, but is not that good either. Make sure you up the fan speed or something.

What can I use to increase fan speed?

When you say increase the frequency, do you mean increase that slider to the right on the AtiTool?

clock=frequency in overclocking terms. ;) And use the catalyst control center to do it, or Riva Tuner, depends which one you like most. Also, use ATI tool only for artifact testing and nothing more.

To increase your fan speed, I guess with Riva Tuner should be the best way to do it. You'll find it here:http://downloads.guru3d.com/Ri...2.09-download-163.html
And read this guide too: http://www.guru3d.com/article/...peed--overclock-guide/

And be very careful, last days there was someone on these forums who killed his videocard because he ignored instability signs that his card showed him.

Ok so just gradually increase it in rivatuner Will I have to press anything to save those settings so that it will scan for artifacts at those settings in AtiTool?

I ask this because the ATI tool shows core clock at 335 and memory at 414 and those aren't the settings I chose. I manually change those settings in ATI-tool to match them with what I chose. I'm just not sure if atiTool is mean to automatically know the clocks i chose.

Just make sure you have checked "enable driver-level hardware overclocking" and set the clocks, save and that's about it.

Oh, I haven't been very careful at your picture as it seems ATI tool is showing the real clocks divided by two on core and by 4 on memory, so don't use it to increase the clocks. Also don't match them with what you have set in the catalyst control or riva tuner, because it means that you'll result in having double and quadruple the real clocks and a dead card. Even if ATI tool is showing them lower, they are still at the level you have set them with Riva Tuner, that is why this program is ONLY for stability testing, since it has some issues.

What the hell is going on!? Even though Riva Tuner is made with Nvidia cards in mind, it should have no problem with your ATI.

Then just use the catalyst control center to increase the clocks, use riva tuner only for the fan speed and ATI tool for stability testing.

nvm, I got it to increase the memory clock. Had to find some option additional settings to "Show effective memory clock frequence." It made the slider expand.

Another question. While doing all this with riva tuner I set the fan to go to 100% when temps are greater than 65%and 60% when lower than that.

I'm doing artifact scanning right now and the temps keep switch between 63-67 and the constant changing of the fan speed is worrying me. Can that not hurt my video cards fan if it's constantly changing like that?

No, the fan will be alright. If you can stand the noise then I guess you should have nothing to worry about. If you have only 67 C on full load then you're good for overclocking. Crank up the clocks and have fun and be careful with the artifacts. ;)

Thx for all the help. I've stopped at 680/1200 and idle temps seem to be around 60C. I can go higher but that's enough for today. I can't increase the core clock without getting artifacts so I've just been increasing the memory.

Are idle temps for the video card of 60C safe for a computer that is on pretty much 24/7

Yes, that temperature is safe. Actually, idle temperature doesn't really matter, only full load temperature.
