After a long, long absence, I've gotten back into the EA hockey with 2001. I played them all on the Genesis from the original to '95, and a few things seem to have changed. I was wondering what camera angle people prefer to play from, and how can you do "the move" in this version? I'm not sure what people called it elsewhere, but in the old versions, you used to be able to fake left, fake right, then shoot left and score pretty much all the time (or right, left, right...you get the idea). I'm just getting frustrated because it seems I can only score on one-timers.

You need momentum and a skilled goal scorer.
Use the deek and the spin buttons. You can put some moves on.
That little move is all but gone.

What are the spin buttons? Or do you just rotate the directional button around to spin around?

I use overhead 1 and overhead 2. I like OH2 because of the angle and you can see a good chunk of the ice.

Well, EA has done a pretty good job of eliminating "cheap" goals but there are some tips that will help you score. Deking the goalie, if practiced can be very effective. Play the shootout mode with different players to get the hang of it. Deke at the last moment and shoot glove side top shelf or for some goalies, use the 5 hole.

Another reliable way to score is using your off-wing (LH players playing RW and vice versa) to shoot far side top shelf. Shots with accurate players from the slot top shelf is good too.

Like it or not, one-timers are the one of the most reliable ways to score. Players with sticks by their name imparticular. Set them up in the slot.

I'm finishing up my first season in an online league (which I joined halfway through) and start a new league tomorrow. I can't get enough of this game!

Good luck.

i've played 20 games into my season so far, and Jagr is pretty much my goal scorer. He has 28 goals and 3 assists. I am playing ful realism, also. Line changes, etc. I just cant score with anyone else. Ahh well, at least he is keeping the team up =].
