First time builder, any suggestions are welcome. Please point out any compatibility issue that you see. Do I need to buy any cables and such?
I want to swap in the hard drive in my current computer just so I can transfer the data over. It's a 30gb Seagate uda133 ide drive that's roughly 5-6 yrs old. It currently has windows 2000 installed on it, I'm wondering if I install windows xp pro on the new set up, would I be able to simply plug in the old hard drive and transfer data over to the new hard drive, or would I run into difficulties due to the different OS on each drive?

set the primary drive as WinXP and then plug your old HD into your sys as a secondary device, and then you will be able to access the files

1st boot device - XP
2nd boot device - etc.

or you will have to manually setup the primary drive to boot first

Looks like a very nice setup.
As for the HD question, just make sure that you install the OS on the new drive before you connect the old HD. Then once everything is configured, install the older HD and simply copy/paste the files/folders you want onto the new HD.
