I have pretty much decided what I'm gonna buy mostly pulled from Anandtech.

Athlon Thundrbird 1.2
Microstar K7T Pro2A
256mb crusial cas2
Deskstar 75GPX 45gig
Pioneer DVD-105S 16X Slot Load DVD-ROM
Yamaha CRW2100EZ 16/10/40X CD-RW
Creative Labs 3D Blaster Annihilator 2
Plain SB PCI card

I plan on just going with win2000. I play games once in awhile but if I run into problems I cn always dual boot win98.

When looking at memory is buying the unbuffered/non-parity the kind I want?

Does anyone know of any issues with the current setup I'm going with?

I have heard of some problems with geforce/apg with Athlon but I dunno if that has been fixed and doesn't apply to my system.

Any imput would be apprecited.

The Diamond SupraMax is not bad ( cept gaming of coarse )and is PCI but a winmodem. As for your sound card why not get a OEM SB Live Value ? Pick those up for around $45.00 or $50.00.

That modem sounds fine. Its basicly gonna be for backup only if my DSL is down. I might go ahead and get the Live gamer pack.

Thanks for the info. Can anyone answer my question about which memory to buy?

FWIW, Nastimus, I would recommend the A-Open geforce 2 MX over the Creative Card. I have both and the A-Open SDR card with the 128 bit memory bus is faster than the creative DDR with the 64 bit bus. The A-Open card is available from mwave.com for $99 plus shipping and also includes a nice heatsink (which the creative card lacks) Just my 2 cents worth.

If you are going for the SBLive and want to purchase Thief II, Deus Ex, MDK 2, or Unreal Tournament some time in the future, the SBLive Platinum 5.1 comes with those 4 games. It is expensive but just a couple of those games will make up the difference in price.

Mark.
