Questions about MSI K7T Turbo2 MB

Hello all,

I am very close to purchasing this MB from newegg, but they have a warning I do understand and haven't been able to find any more information on. The warning says:

Warning P4 Voltage connector. may be required, See picture

I look at the picture and I see four additional power plugs next to the MB power connector. I am assuming this is what the warning is talking about, but I don't know for sure.

I have read a couple reviews trying to determine what this means and the closest I have found says:

An anomaly on this board is the addition of the four pin power connector usually reserved for AGP Pro. Sadly, that is not present on this board. In this case, it is used to provide more power to the CPU.

I have an Antec 1040 with an Enermax PS and I want to make sure I will be able to use this MB. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

You sent this link for a picture of the board. If you look closely then you will see a place for a four pin plug. Your power supply needs one of these connectors.

bobdeer1965,

I saw the four pin plug. I included the picture so others could see it as well. Are you sure my power supply needs to have one of these four pin connectors to use this motherboard? Are you sure it is not optional?

Oh. Now there's a problem. Well, if that will keep you from working as you should, then I suggest you get another PSU. Some el-cheapo PSUs have that 12v connector and an aprox. output of 300W, which work just about fine... at less than 20 U$, so you could make a small investment, there.

That is an option, the problem is that I invested in a good enermax PS a couple of years ago and I really don't want to replace it. Is there a convertor that will turn a molex plug into one of these four pin connectors?

just don't worry about it. I had the MSI Turbo board and it worked just fine. Unless you are running the ultra rare XP2600+ 133 mghz bus cpu, that plug is nearly useless.

I use a newer 431 watt Enermax PSU and it is fantastic.
