I recently bought the Memorex 40x12x48 CD-RW drive and was wondering about reflashing the BIOS to Lite-On.
If the drive is not made by Lite-On, will the flash succeed? I did re-flash it to the WS05 binary I found online, and WinXP reads it as a Lite-On now, but I don't have any burning software to test it out with. If the drive accepted the Lite-On flash, does that mean that it is a Lite-On? Or is it possible that it is made by another manufacturer and it just took the Lite-On flash but won't work properly if I try to burn?
