I've noticed that when I go to check out member profiles that there is a rating you can give them from 1 - 10. Do these members know that you are rating them? Will they receive an email or message saying that so and so gave them a certain rating?

If you let others rate you in your settings, how long do you have to be a member before you receive any ratings? Do you get to see your own ratings?

Sorry for posting this, but I didn't find anything about it in the FAQ or in any searches.

About the ratings, members do not know they are being rated, you can vote for another member one time only (if rating is enabled in his/her profile), no emails or messages will be sent.

If you have ratings enabled (which it appears you do) anyone can rate you right now or any time in the future so long as you keep it enabled. You can see your own rating by viewing your profile/clicking on the little sunglasses.
 
I see it now. 😉 It said member had not been rated prior to my checking it a little while ago. Looks like I finally got a rating. 😀 I didn't see the box with the 1-10 scale when I clicked on the glasses, so I didn't know that it was possible for me to be rated yet.

Let me ask you this. If I disable this feature in the future and I'm already rated, will my rating still appear even though I've disabled the rating feature? I see some users with pretty poor ratings and wonder why they would leave it up if they had a poor rating.

If you disable it in the future your rating will not appear. I really wouldnt worry about it though, many people just go around rating everyone a 1. It's seldom used for it's intended purprose.
 
Yep.. You're right. Before I posted this thread 10 minutes ago I was unrated. Since then I have gotten 4 ratings and my user rating slipped from 10 to 5 in a real hurry. I suspect that it will keep falling and falling.. Oh well. If it's not used for its intended purposes..

Ratings are a highly inaccurate representation of character. Just disable them if you don't want a low rating. 😉

The ATOT unspoken rule of user ratings:

If you ask about user ratings....people suddenly show an interest in yours, and it usually drops 😉

Now watch mine go down....should have kept out of this thread....
 
I noticed that. I had a feeling that I made a mistake after I posted the original message. Now I'm trying to see if I can get a ton of votes and see if I can get the lowest rating possible.

I can't believe my thread is at the top here. I thought it would be long gone by now.

I had figured out that asking about ratings would only get me poor ones after I made the mistake of my first post. I figured that I'd just have fun with it at that point.

I bet you'd really like for me to activate my user ratings again, wouldn't you.. 😉
