Questions about mapping a drive in Windows

I have a Win10 desktop and a Win8.1 laptop. Had been using a Homegroup before with my (now dead) Win7 PC, but want to use drive mapping with my new Win10 desktop. I have some questions.

1. Does it matter which PC I use to map a folder on my Win10 desktop? IOW, I used my laptop to map a folder in the Win10 PC and it's working fine. If I connect another laptop to the network later, will that new laptop automatically see the mapped folder in the Win10 desktop, or will I need to map the folder in the Win10 desktop again from the new laptop?

2. Related to question-1 above, If a hacker gains access to my network, will he automatically gain access to the mapped folder in my Win10 desktop?

3. When I mapped the folder in the Win10 desktop from my laptop, there was an option to "Connect using different credentials". I did not check that option. Does using the credentials option prevent a hacker who might gain access to my network from gaining access to the mapped folder in my Win10 desktop?

Thanks for any help,
