Questions about LSU and Baton Rouge

So I'm thinking about going to LSU. Probably not this fall, but *maybe* for spring. I should be attending some college by *next* fall. I was born in Red Stick, and have lived in LA and MS almost all of my life, so I kind of know what to expect. My questions are:

What do you think of LSU?
What do you think of Baton Rouge?
How are their science programs?

Tuition is pretty cheap at LSU, so I can probably get loans or something like that. Just looking for opinions. I *really* don't want to stay in Indiana, and IU is outrageously expensive.

Thanks!

You will have fun there, that's for sure. LSU is great, it was my second choice (I chose La Tech simply because of location). They have an excellent science program, and I know they are the top CS program in the state (that was what I was looking for). As far as Baton Rouge goes, you will be drunk all of the time. Its a hop, skip, and jump away from New Orleans so that' always a plus as well.

all I know is... when I was around 10... I lived about 2 minutes away from the stadium, after every football game I would go to the parking lot outside and pickup Beer cans for money (they will buy them back at 1 cent each), we would make about $50 each time (5000 empty cans!!).

:)

Well, that's good. I haven't been to Baton Rouge and really stayed there, except for when I was a baby. We used to pass through sometimes on our way to Shreveport. My uncle James will be happy if I go there, his dog has an LSU sweater. He used to fly in from other parts of the country/world to see their games. I guess being an exec at Ford is good work. :)

How hard is it to get it? I made a 30 on the ACT, 1300 on the SAT and had a GPA of 3.3.

Think I'll have any luck?

I've lived in Baton Rouge for 10 months now. I don't know about LSU life, but living in BR sucks for me. Traffic is in constant gridlock. IMHO, it's worse than Houston, Indianapolis, Jackson, etc (the big cities I've driven in). The interstate system is always jammed due to the worst engineering ever: I-10 actually goes to zero lanes (eastbound) after crossing the Mississippi River. It actually serves as an offramp at the I-10/I-110 merger.

The roads and highways were designed for 1/2 it's current capacity. I believe the population of East Baton Rouge Parish exceeds 300K.

Lol, damn. It's been a while since I've been there. I bet it's still better than Monroe, though. :p

Can I live in the dorms even though I'm 21?

Nope, I've lived in Alexandria for a year. I hate that place with all of my heart. If you are familiar with Monroe, Alex is like a giant Bawcomville.

As for the dorms, I'm pretty sure that you can.

The area around the campus blows....
there was so much crime rate by my old house (well... 10 years ago :)), we lived on the student apartments on campus.
