Questions about LCD

Ok, so I'm planning on buying a LCD for gamming. Only problem is the only spec I know is important is the response time, everyone keeps saying 8ms or less. But some of the LCD's I'm looking at don't have a response time factored in, but instead a ratio, like 400-1 ect, so for LCD's that don't have a respnse time, whats the best Ratio to look for.

The ratio i.e. 500:1 is the contrast ratio.

Sorry, LCD and memory are my two hardware weakspots, what does contrast ratio represent?

the ratio and response time are different things.

the constrast ratio tells you how black the blacks look comapred to white. The response time tells you how long it takes to go from black to white

Uh if the lcd's your looking at dont state the response time then its probably for a reason. Where are you buying the lcd from, Best Buy?
Ive seen tons w/o response time stated but if you look up the models youll see their response time to be 25ms and up. With this type of response time your going to definently see some ghosting and no ratio can help you there.

In my opinion find a lcd around ~15ms or less with a ratio 500:1 or higher

ah ok, was looking on the dell site, and at the coupon, alot of the ones with coupons don't state the response time. So, what response/Ratio should I be looking for?
