Questions about ipod nano

I am interested in getting one. My mother asked me if I wanted her to get me one for Christmas and I said yes but to hold out for Best Buy to get them back in stock. Every damn personal audio device I have every had goes bad in the same exact way each time. The electrical contacts inside the earphone canal wear out. I am adamant about getting it at Best Buy because they have a store warranty (which I will get).

The only problem is, that you can't find ipods anywhere except for the Apple Store. Their warranty is $60 and good for 2 years where as the Best Buy one is $40-45 and good for three years. I will wait for Best Buy to get them back in stock before I let anyone buy me one.

I'd consider another mp3 player but all of them seem to use a joystick control to control just about everything. I listen to tracks that last an hour or more and what always happens with these joystick things is that I reach into my pocket to change the volume but instead, I skip to the next track. This really f**king pisses me off. I had no idea where the hell I was in the track I was listening to and now I have to search for it (and the search eats up battery life and is always slow). WIth the click wheel, that does not happen. You can?t easily skip songs.

So my questions are,

1) Are there other stores that offer warrantees that last as long as Best Buy's at the same price or cheaper?

2) Is there an alternative to the ipod which will defeat my problem of accidentally skipping to the next song?

1) In two years the Ipod Nano will be replaced with something smaller and more storage so just get the one with 2 yr warrenty.
2) No.

There are many MP3 players that don't use a joystick at all...

The nice thing about the click wheel is that you actually have to press down on it to skip a song. Changing the volume is done by gliding your finger over the surface. It is really hard to skip a song if you do not intend to. I am sure there are many other players which do not have joysticks but two buttons close together would probably lead to just as many accidental skips. Does anyone know of any that are "safegaurded" from making mistakes that work as well or better than the click wheel mechanism?
