I have a TV Tuner card on order right now, as I needed something as a DVR solution since I find no need to shell out the $ for the Digital Cable + DVR box from the Cable Co. I opted to get a HD capable tuner card - the ATI 650 card. Now I do know it is capable of doing OTA HDTV without any external decoders, nothing more than an antenna...
But my real question is how does HD work over cable? I've heard that HD over cable requires an additional box? Is this only for the TV's that are HD ready but have no HD converter? Or is that something that's inherent to cable itself?
Basically, am I only going to get HD via OTA with this card only? Or will I be able to deal with HD programming via standard cable too?
