The wife and I are about to buy a home. Neither of us has ever lived in a home heated with natural gas. We are curious as to the average cost in the winter months to heat with natural gas.

Thanks

Too many factors to consider like size of house, cost of gas in your area, desired temperature, insulation of house, etc.

go to the utility company and pull the last years bills. The price of nat gas has skyrocketed the last few years.

That is the only way of knowing. That, or ask the sellers. For the house you described, it'll be $50-$500/month depending on so many factors that none of us could narrow it down much further.

It really just depends.

Do you live in California or Florida? Then it shouldn't cost that much to heat your house.
Do you live in North Dakota or Maine? Then obviously it will cost more.

Do you like your house nice and toasty in wintertime? Then it will cost more.
Do you like your house cool-- even cold-- in wintertime, and you wear extra clothing? Then it will cost less.

Do you have an older home with litle to no insulation? Then it will cost more.
Do you live in a newer home with good insulation and insulated windows? Then it will cost less.

Etcetera, etcetera...

Gas stove, dryer, water heater and furnace.

We pay 86$ a month year round, they estimate your gas costs for the year and average it out.
