Questions about getting braces.

My bottom row of teeth are killing me, they're supposed to be flat like this: _ _ but they're more like a V now. It's not that bad but it gets annoying.

My parents have agreed to help me pay for the braces, but I have no idea how to go about this. Would I just call up an orthodontist and get a consultation? How much would a consultation cost?

I've asked my friends but they all say their orthodontists suck.

Most orthodontists will do free consultations.

Call & make an appointment.

Give them your insurance info, they can check to see if insurance will cover any of it.

Why do they say they "suck"?

If someone was hurting me every month I would say they sucked too, but, it had to be done back when I had mine and it all paid off in the end.

Well they said that their orthodontist didn't really care about their teeth. Just as long as the bill was paid.

Do you have health insurance?

Yeah I got Delta Dental, not sure what my type will cover though.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll just call and make an appointment. Hopefully they'll take my type of coverage.

There's a TON of new optiosn now other than the standard old fashioned braces. THere are removable things wher eyou change them every couple weeks, there's braces that go behind your teeth instead of in front so you can't see them, there's clear kinds that aren't as visible. Make sure you get lots of options.

I had them. They're really not that inconvenient, and now my teeth look a lot better. I'm still wearing my retainer.
