questions about generators

My girlfriend is wanting to get a generator for this hurricane season. We want something small and hopefully inexpensive, but it must at a minimum be able to power our refrigerator.

How would I be able to know what a generator would be able to power? I can get the amperage numbers etc for my fridge if necessary.

Any recommendations? Any ways to get a really good deal? Anything else I should know?

Thanks!

BUY A P3 INTERNATIONAL KILL-A-WATT.

This device has so many uses.

Determining a proper PSU for your PC, a good UPS, a good generator....

It will tell you volts, amps, watts and VA on an outlet. Cheap too (about $40.)

And don't forget tax free time. Get a generator under $750 and pay no tax until June 12th!!!

I figured because he goes to UCF in Florida that he probably doesn't actually live in Micronesia. 😉

I was pondering the same thing.

I got a bunch of ads in my paper from Lowe's + Home Depot this week. Home Depot said they would match the savings from no taxes on those purchases. So no tax + 7.5% off pre-tax price. That is probably the best deal you'll get short of 5 fingering one (good luck) or picking one up off the back of the truck.

And PLEASE if you do get one, do NOT run it inside the house.
