Hey Guys, I got a firewire card in my computer and I am just thrilled at the fast capabilities it has.

The only times I have used a scanner was at college and I noticed they all were firewire. I noticed they can cost up to three hundred dollars at some places and as low as $119. But is it worth getting a firewire one when I can get a regular old HP one for $30 or even free with the right deal? Will the usb one be that slow? And if it is slow which part? The scanning? The picture actually coming up on the screen?

I would appreciate any help at all.

I think firewire will be a faster than usb... but if you wanna save money...go with usb.. just make sure the scanner is not a POS... as for picture quality..its depends on the scanner not the connection to the pc...
firewire is better suited for video/harddrives...etc things that need heavy bandwidth...
