I have a question about the front fans on the SX830, should they be blowing air inward or outward? I was told inward, but I'm not sure if thats the right way to do it. Also what's quieter, a lower dBa number or a higher dBa number. I would greatly appreciate any assistance. Thanks

The 2 fans at front should be facing inwards, so blowing air towards motherboard. The fans at back will therefore be facing outwards and blowing air out of case. So you create a air flow system.
A lower dba number is quieter.

Its another 80mm fan for Hard Drives.
I am not using it, but plenty of people will be.

Hi,

So wait a sec, do you mean to tell me that you can actually fit 5 fans in the SX830/840? 2 front, 2 back and one for the HDD's?

Where does that HDD one go? In side the lower drive cage? Is there a supplied purple bracket for it?

If this is true that SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET. I just ordered two of the SX840's from emscomputing.com (100 + 19.02 shippng each).

Thanks guys,

Asheesh

As SuperT already mentioned, yes the 840 includes a purple bracket inside the lower HD cage for an 80mm fan.
The lower HD cage can hold 3 HDs total, and the fan is mounted to blow across all (3) HDs...

So actually you will have (3) 80mm fans total bringing cold air into the case.

For the record though, if you've got 3 drives in that cage no fan is going to put significant CFMs over the drives. Still a great design regardless.

Oh, if you're concerned about dBA you might want to cut out the metal grills infront of the lower two fan positions. That supposedly cuts down on noise some. I've been meaning to do it for the longest time, but I'm lazy.

Does that bracket mount on the inner side of the HD cage or the outer side? I was on the inside but I thought they made a mistake when I got my case!!! It makes it even SWEETER!!!!!!

IIIRC (and if this makes sense) it goes plastic front, metal part of drive cage, plastic fan bracket, hard drives.

Probably blowing in. I honestly don't think you'd even see a 1C difference either way if you have all the other brackets populated.

I

I have two HDs on tht bracket with a space between them. They're only for storage though, I might just take the my primary haad and put it on that bracket cuz that one runs the hottest.
