Questions about DVI cables...

My LCD monitor has a DVI-D input and my PC has a DVI-I input (the one with four additional pins). Would I be able to get digital reception with a DVI-D to DVI-D cable? Also, what's the difference between Single and Dual cables (single has the pins split in two groups, dual has them in one big group)? Is one better than the other? If I could get some help on this complicated (to me anyways) issue I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
