Questions about donating a car

Hey all

My parents have this junky car that I want to donate so that I can get rid of it and also claim a tax deduction. I have some questions that maybe some of you guys/gals with more experience can answer

1) The car is under my parents name. Do I have to do anything to claim it as my deduction? Change the car to my name?
2) How much can I deduct? Is this self determined or is it determined by the organization I am donating the car to?

we've done it a couple times

1) yes it should be in your name
2) blue book value, take pictures just in case

I will take a wild guess that you have to be the registered owner in order to take the tax deduction. Others may know better.
