Questions about Crossfire

So i'm going to be making a few tweaks to my computer, by adding a new motherboard, video card, and some hard drives. What I was wondering was whether or not you could use 2 "Crossfire Ready" cards in a single Crossfire configuration, or if it was necessary to use 1 CR card and another ATI card at random...

I'm going to be using these parts, with only 1 initial video card until the R600 comes out (in which I would crossfire w/ the 1900xtx if possible)

Thanks to everyone in advance.

to do crossfire, you need one cross fire edition card (as master card) then a crossfire ready card as the slave...

its not a good investment

6.5 catalyst gave dongleless crossfire to anything below and including x1800 gto.
But r600 won't require any dongle what so ever.

I'm against all Crossfire and SLI configs because I don't feel the bang for the buck is there.

Two cards -> More monitors, higher resolutions, higher framerates...what's not to like?

*If you aren't gonna get more than 2 monitors for your SLI/Crossfire system, THEN I'd say it's a waste of money.

Ah, but i bet you didn't realize that you cannot run dual displays with CF or SLI enabled.

You actually have to disable CF/SLI to utilize a secondary display, or you have to run a third card to get more than one display, unless you wish to disable CF/SLI every single time you want to use more than your primary display.

Retarded? You betcha.
Yet another reason why i too am not very impressed with CF/SLI...
