I'm a newb when it comes to buying different HSFs than stock. I've built a few computers in the past, but I've always used stock HSF that comes with the CPU. Right now, I have a 3.5 year old computer that is a P4 2.0A GHz Northwood S478. It is pretty loud and hot. I wanted to buy a different HSF than the stock one so it would be cooler and less noise. I do not know any, but I heard Zalman is one of the best. Upon researching on NewEgg, I found these two brands with great reviews... are these two good or can you recommend me some others:

Also, the installation shouldn't be too hard, right? Just remove the original HSF. Clean up carefully the old stock thermal paste, reapply new one (I use Arctic Ceramique and the ArcticClean cleaners), and then put the new HSF on. Correct? Thanks.

Hmm.. I see that last link you gave me is just the heatsink. I was looking for a heatsink/fan combo that is already pre-attached...

Save your money, get one of these, because they're on sale-

Not that I'm big on the blue led's, but I'd put up with them for the money

Or one of these, probably slightly noisier under most circumstances, still a lot better than stock, also a bargain-

Be sure there's clearance for the fan if you choose the Spire model...

I can appreciate the desire for quiet computers, but not spending mucho moola on older machines when quality low-cost options are available...
