question's about campus life

I will be moving into a 4 year school in about 3 months and i am trying to decide whether or not to live on campus or with one of my two parents. If my parents cared what i did this wouldnt be a hard decision, but they dont. besides drinking and drugs and women, are there any other really convincing reasons to live on campus?

i say that if you live with your parents, it'll be tougher since college students have highly irregular sleep patterns (just look at this forum)

in a house, you would probably bother your parent(s) with that, but in a dorm, EVERYONE has highly irregular sleep patterns

If you live with your parents you won't meet anyone. College students don't talk in class. If you walk from your car to class and then back to the car, you meet no one.

If you live in the dorms, you meet everyone who lives in the dorms.

If you want to hang out by yourself for four years, live with your parents.

True. Very true. Even ugly or smelly people that stay on campus have tons of friends.

live in dorms for the first year at least, you can always decide to live with your folks later (unless you piss them off)

Be a part of the college atmosphere and live on campus for at least a year or two. You will meet a lot more people this way.

thanks for the replies, i was leaning in that direction myself but i didnt want to get there and find out it was just my normal life - several thousand bucks. On a side note, does anyone here go to MU(missouri)? If so, how is the campus life?

I highly recommend staying on campus. I went to a community college for two years, and lived at home, and now I'm living in a dorm at a real school. It's so much better when you're on your own. Much more fun and like has been said, you meet a lot more people.

Don't get roommates EVER! You'll just end up committing murder.

I disagree. You should try and live with a couple of different people... two or three at least, while you are in college. You should also spend a year living alone (junior or senior year). You will learn a lot about yourself in both situations.

Aren't you like 14 or 15....? 😀

Well, yeah living on campus is much better than living at home

They don't care? Save your money, or live with a girlfriend.

I didn't go to Mizzou, but I know of its reputation from working in Higher Ed. Mizzou is a big party school. It is very likely that you will meet a few people when living on campus 😉

Also, most of my students who live on campus usually tend to enjoy their college career more so than students who live with their parents. Good luck and remember, jungle juice is never your friend!

Do yourself a favor, live in campus.
My life sucks donkey ass having to commute.
I just drove back home, tired as fvck, yet I still have to drive before I can take a rest.

And think about morning classes.
I have a class at 8:30am. The day before I had a meeting til 10pm, drove back home to sleep, then had to commute back to school at 7am. Suck ass life I tell you.
