Questions about building my new system....

I am currebtly planning on putting together my own system and I have a few questions for everyone out there....

Any good guides/manuals or how tos on building your own system? i am not scared or anything, I have been around computers my whole life and I am no stranger to the inside of a box, however I am still a little unclear on motherboard and heatsink install. I am also unclear about how to install the OS on a brand new HD.
