Questions about BG2 and icewind dale

What do you guys think of these games. I dont know what to ask for christmas so I thinking about those 2 games. Any other suggestions for good games are welcome.

IWD is nice, extremely dungeon-oriented. But there is no doubt, BG2 is better, and as much a MUST-BUY as it predecessor already was. I don't think I have ever seen a game get as many rave reviews as BG2.

I have only played BG2 and it is very good abd huge. I fully recommend it. My friends who has both reckons IWD has a better and more coherent story line, which might be true. I doubt you would be dispointed with either

Think of IWD as a smaller version of BG2, a good game but more a dungeon crawl than a story guided adventure... BG2 would be my first choice(huge story guided game), IWD will make an excellent game to play afterwards...

Ok thats nice is Icewind Dale good enough to get both the games or should I just go with Baldur's Gate 2??

BG2 is the better of the two games. BG2 is huge. Interplay is releasing an add-on for Icewind Dale before christmas though.
