Questions about Asus P4B533-E & Antec 1080amg case

Well, I finally started on building my computer, and have a couple of questions...

1. The antec case comes with front USB & Firewire connections, but the wires for the usb connectors are labeled differently than how asus labels the connections for the usb. Here is a PIC of what the wires look like. They are supposed to be plugged into the blue rectangle right below the wires (sorry, not a good pic) but I can't figure out which wire goes where.

2. The antec case comes with 3 fans that have two connectors coming out of each fan... a male & female end. I'm assuming I can chain these together and then connect them to the power supply, is this correct?

3. The antec case has some pretty weird wire color combos. The power switch wire is white & green, and there is also a blue & white wire for the restart button. Can someone tell me which color is +/-?

Here's a pic of the CASE I think it looks pretty good. 🙂

TIA

Read the Asus manual very carefully. It explains which connector is which, and match that to the connectors from the Antec case. Each individual USB wire from the Antec USB ports are to be connected to corresponding connectors on the mobo.

That's what I did, and it works fine. There are "positive one and positive two" connectors on the wires that go to the corresponding connectors on the mobo. Same for the Ground one and two. Then there is the data plus one and two wires. and the data minus wires.

It seems complicated at first, but if you read both the Antec and Asus instructions, it all comes together pretty easily. Just be sure NOT to mix up USB 1 and 2 wires and you'll be fine.

Here is the Antec manual. It gives pretty clear instructions on how to hook up the USB wires.

Also, for your LED front panel connections, the labels should face the front of the case.

Ahh, excellent. I think I have it. Won't find out till I get the memory I'm still waiting for though. Thanks for all the info. I know I'll have some more questions once I get home 🙂

I don't quite understand this since some of the wires face sideways, and cannot point towards the front of the case. I guess I'll do some trial and error on them. Whats the worst that could happen?

Just plug in those wires so the text on the connector is always readable (Always facing 'out' from that header block).

sorry for the crappy design, but you should get the idea. This tends to work in Antec/Asus combo's although I have no proof that it is actually preconceived.

Odd how this WYSIWYG editor doesn't promise nothing 🙂

Thanks! I think I get what you're saying. Have the labels facing outwards 🙂

WAIT!

I'm wrong. On my Asus mobo, my Antec FP connectors have the labels facing towards the center/top of the mobo ("up" when you have it in your case). I remember getting this through trial and error, but everything works, so it is right.

My "facing the front of the case" was pulled from Antec's manual. However, that is obviously not the case with Asus FP connections.

Sorry if I misled you. I was on my laptop last night, and just looked in my case today to see how they really were set up.

I can never remember which color is '+' and which is '-'. But I believe the white is the positive in both of the LED's.

At any rate... For the reset and pwr connections, it doesn't matter which way you put them.
For the LED's, just try one way and if the LED doesn't light, turn the connector around. (You have a 50/50 chance.)

Yeah, I'm not too worried about the little connectors at the bottom. What I was really concerned about was finding a way to hook up the usb wires, but some trial and error should take care of that problem 🙂
