Hi, I have a two different S754 motherboards sitting around and I want to put together another Folding@Home rig. I have searched and found a "A64 3200+ socket 754 DTR" CPU. I believe that it is a 'Mobile' chip (please correct me if I am wrong).
The first motherboard is an Asus K8V SE Deluxe w/the latest BIOS (I just got a new BIOS chip from Asus about 2 months ago). I have searched the Asus website but I can't even find the right motherboard. A similar motherboard didn't seem to have an updated 'Supported CPU' list. I have sent a inquiry to them, but in the meanwhile I figured that I would ask others if they have used a DTR CPU on this board.
The second motherboard is a ECS NFORCE3-A. The info at the ECS website seems lacking on this board also.
I am assuming that the DTR chips are 'Mobiles' and therefore use low Vcores. I am also assuming that with a bump to the Vcore, some nice Overclocks can be had. Does anyone have any experience with one of these CPU's? Anyone use a DTR on one of the motherboards I have already mentioned?
I remember reading a review or two on the Newegg website and reading where someone found that they couldn't use a mobile chip on a certain Motherboard. If this is gonna be more hassles then it is worth then I will either get a different CPU or just leave the motherboards lying around.
-Thanks, Ken
