Questions about 64-bit computing

Short answer: yes

Long answer: yes but.

It will only support it if you run a 64bit OS (most linux distros have a fully working and powerful 64bit edition, or else 64bit windows). WindowsXP-64 is not the best piece of software in the world. All the programs are still compiled as 32bit applications and you have to be able to find 64bit drivers for everything. If you are gaming, its best to keep using 32bit windows until support improves (but you will have the equipment ready to go as soon as it does).

Linux is going to fare better as any 64bit distro will have a repository filled with applications that have been compiled and tested on 64bit computers.
