I have an Oem WD 40GB hd.. it had a lot of crucial data (YES my pr0n) and other personal pics and such ... unfortunately it died on me:(

would WD be able to repair the hd and send the drive back to me? whats the procedure if anyone has dealt with something similar

Isn't there someone in your local area who could take care of this for you?

well maybe I should call em :p but I was thinking maybe I could get some info here beforehand..

the thing is about taking it to a local store is a "charge" but maybe WD will honor warranty? but in the case that the hd is under warranty would they be able to recover the data?

well, you could try and do it yourself

buy an identical drive, and swap out the disk.

otherwise, it might just be easier to get a GF

Check the yellow pages for a "disk recovery service" or something like that. There should be many to choose from.
They can help you.
