When I talk and hold my iphone X flat, screen goes black,

Anyone else experiencing it?

I assume when you say hold flat, you mean like on a table or something. I tested that, but my screen didn't go black. Only goes black if something gets within an inch or two of the front sensors like my hand reaching for the phone or the phone being held up to my face.
