Question

in the past partners are mostly what homosexuals call their other half

although now i think people call whoever they live with a partner. i live with my gf so i guess she is a partner.

i asked to do my new boss who came from overseas if heis married, his answer" i am seperated from my parner" so is he gay or his partner could be female nothing against if he is gay but its good that we dont joke infront of him or say something that make him uncomfortable

Just remember that if you get married and then divorced you bet you will think she is your partner once she takes half your stuff. 😀

gay. nothing agasint him. u dont separate from a heterosexual partner. thats called "breaking up with you gf" or calling off your engagement with your fiance.

theres people who call people they live with (gf, etc) as domestic partner, but you dont separate from them. u break up.

You're an idiot if you joke about anything that could be offensive to anyone at work. Last week I sent a guy from another group on to another job after one of his comments. Some people were discussing the Hiroshima bombing, and this guy, a 28 year old guy with a masters degree, says "We should see what "Mohammed" thinks about this, he must know a thing or two about bombing, eh?"

"Mohammed" wasn't around, but that didn't save that guy's job. The workplace is NOT tolerant of offensive "jokes."

it really depends, nebor. i dont agree with you. my last place i was with, i had a coworker who just curses and says racial things all the time. he's irish, im chinese. he calls me chinaman and i joke about him being irish all the time.

well he was outsourced to IBM (nothing to do with him, whole dept was outsourced and became ibm employees), and now at another client, had lunch with him the other day and he said that its so different now, him and another excoworker of mine, they still curse at each other but now they are in cubes instead of offices, the women all look at them weird when they cuss and they have to apologize

it all depends on the environment. some are laid back and dont see it as a problem, some are more uptight

It's usual to call your girlfriend partner if the relationship is not that new, but marriage isn't an option for whatever reason. The term "life partner" was in vogue some time ago, seldom also for married couples. "Partner" doesn't exclude same sex relationships. I'm speaking for Switzerland, at least.

No worries...they probably don't understand 90% of Wdughanbug says anyway...they just stare and nod.
