My mom's computer has a Abit KG7-RAID MOBO and currently its running a regular 600 Mhz Duron Processor O/Ced at I believe 750. I recently aquired a 1.4 T-Bird and I am wondering if this is compatible with my board. I don't wanna try it until I am possitive cause I know that can fry the board. Can anyone give information.

Thanks.
Stu

P.S. The BIOS is the latest (As of a week ago).

Well there's not much chance of frying the board even if you put in a brand new processor that the board doesn't support.

As of BIOS version 68, the board supports up to an XP 2000+, so yes a 1.4 T-bird is supported.

How did she end up with a KG7 running a 600MHz processor?

Somehow her previous board fried....just stopped working....power supply is fine. So I got her a new board but didn't feel like gettin a new processor cause she doesn't use it for much more the internet. And yes you can fry a board if you put in a processor that doesn't support it especially if the FSB is more then the board can handle. I say that first hand cause that is what just happened with my MOBO (read the owners manual first). This is why I'm a little gun-shy.
