Well i am gonna pay them $10 more a month to get it up in my room. Heres the problem

They are gonna activate the ethernet connection on the gateway(the dsl modem). I have to hook that up to a hub?? Then run it to my computer upstaris???

My connection is in the basement, and my room is on the second floor. How the hell do i do this, and is there anything that is wireless? B/c i dont wanna run a ethernet wire to my room two floors up.

Thanks

Matt

Ehh...FREAK!

I have directv dsl and all you do is buy a router and connect them through that...no need to pay them extra money 😕

And yes, you can do what I did...just wire Cat5 through your house. It's really not THAT hard 😛

see.........the problem is the gatway is hooked up through the USB cable, the ethernet connection isnt turned on. Or at least that was what i was told.

So how do you split that? Or is that what you just told me? LOL

"Turned on?!" That's a load of bullsh!t my friend. I don't know what kind of modem you have but all I had to do is plug my router into my ADSL modem and it worked. 😛

As a fellow DTVDSL member, just take out the USB cable and put in a Ethernet one to plug into your hub. Plug a cable into the hub to go into your NIC, but if you want to do wireless, you'll need a wireless hub and a wireless NIC. The hub can split the signal for you automatically to any computer that has the DTV software installed.

My roomate and I share DTVDSL with a wireless hub. I use cable since the hub is in my room and he uses a wireless lan card for his laptop.

ed. Hub model is a Linksys BEFW11S4

And in addition, I'm not sure why you have to pay for the extra $10 a month anyways (family package I assume?).

what if i dont have room for a NIC on the computer that is hooked up with usb?

My upstairs one had a nic
