Question: Will a Belly Button Ring start closing up if you lose it/take it out?

My friend has a belly button ring and somehow it fell out, now she is worried they the hole will start closing up, she had it about a year, and we prob wont beable to get to the store until tomorrow to get a new ring.....is she freaking out for no reason cause i dont think it will close up that fast

True. I know a girl who's had hers out for like 3 years and the hole is still there. It was in about 2.
