Really what is the criteria for selection?

I was a who who for HS for 3 years and rightly so as I had a high GPA and was extremly involved outside the class room.

It is now my 2nd year of college and while I am still fairly active with lots of clubs and such, my GPA isn't so hot...(2.7) I just finished my winter quarter and today recieved a nomination for the National Dean list.

While there is no way I am paying for any of the services and while I do think it couldn't hurt to put on your resume, it really makes me question there selection process, anyone care to shed some light on them?

Money making idea? Yes. Their money come from getting the list members/families to buy books/plaques and the other things they offer.

You can't pay to get in.

Of any value to be included? I don't know. I doubt that post-university employers would care. It could help for college entrance/scholarships.

You cant pay to get in? my grades were crap in high school and I was offered to be listed in the "Who's Who". I still think it's a money making scam.

They list you even if you don't buy anything (unless they have changed since my children were in high school and college.) I never bought anything and they were always listed.

From the Who's Who site "As always, the honor and recognition are free. Students do not have to buy anything or pay fees to be listed."

I don't see how it is a scam since as mentioned several times (I guess people cant read) that you do not need to pay to get in, only if you want the offical certificate/plaque, coffee mug etc.

The point is that it's all about money. It has nothing to do with honor or "special recognition," and isn't even close to being worth putting on your resume or college application.

meh. It means nothing. Deans lists and things like that are nothing more than ego boosters. I can be a bookworm and get on the deans list every semester, that doesnt mean I will be a good worker.

It means absolutely nothing, and has absolutely no worth. If you put it on a resumé, you'll get laughed at.
