***Question to those with Half-Life 2 Store Bought Copy

Once you install the store bought version does it just put the same files on your hard drive that the valve pre-load does ? One other question. Does the game in the store bought copy come with a cd-key or some other form of unique key ?

yep it is same exact thing as a preload, just from a disk.

rofl. so you just get a pretty box and disks ? 🙂 I guess that is worth it. So than it seems that essentialyl what is going to happen on tuesday is the encryption algorithm will be pumped out from steam and your pre-load will de-encrypt and install. curious.

I think it's brilliant. I'm happy the CD owners can now feel what I feel when I stare at the "pre-loading is complete" screen.

I bought a bronze version via steam and plan to buy a CE at the store.

I'm still wary however of steam involvement. Among other things, I'm wondering how one might transfer ownership of this game should you choose/wish to sell it at some point.

THe "CD key" becomes entwined with your steam ID.
