question to fat people who take up more than 1 seat...

i was sitting in the bus today and noticed how this really fat lady sat in the middle of 3 seats in the front section, while her waist was taking up the two seats beside her. if i were her i'd feel like i got some physical issues to be taking up 3 seats like that while people are standing up in the bus.

You don't think she already knows that?

I bet she knew that before she got on the bus.

Seats on buses, planes, and in theaters are getting smaller, so that these businesses can maximize the number of people they can cram in. While we're getting taller and wider. At some point, it defeats the purpose.

And you don't want to be sitting in front of me, when I have my knees jammed into the back of your seat.

I agree... I am sure all heavy people know they are heavy. it is not some shock to them. From all the reasearch i have read and all the TV shows i have seen on Discovery Health, etc, i have realized that many people do actually have physical disabilities and actual health problems that lead them to being over weight. Some are just lazy and eat too much, but many do have valid and (rather sad) health issues.

Yeah, I am just lazy and I eat too much...but I don't (yet) take up 3 seats on the bus.

I'm not fat but am tall (6-3; 220). I don't fit comfortably into the allotted space that buses and planes. I wonder if the designers of mass transit feel guilty about designing seating spaces that exclude 1 out of 10 people.

Worst is in a plane, when a fat guy is sitting next to you, and his ass is crawling underneath the armrest taking up half of my seat....

LOL, and on top of that, he gets an attitude when you have to get up and go to the restroom, as if someone just asked him to climb up a mountain.

Damn, i hate fat people.... 😛 not really

Well, you can't take the aisle seat, if you would be blocking the aisle. And if you take the window seat and someone takes the aisle seat, it's going to be much more difficult to get out. So if there are plenty of seats, taking the middle one isn't unreasonable.

Designers fo mass transit don't care about you. They care about moving people. They shoot for averages, not exceptions. They build in ADA compliance and that's it.

People who are obese should lose weight. Not for reasons of saving space on planes or buses, but for their own health. The fact that obesity is a problem is sad... People need to do their part to be healthy for them. 1 hour of exercise extends your life by 2 hours.... Obesity simply shortens your life and wears on your heart and joints.

my wife is a bit thick...so she should loose weight, maybe by exercising and eating right...

tell her that while she munches a carrot stick and runs past you doing a 5K.....some people ARE bigger, it's a fact of life. My wife can run 5K's, and I'll bet most the pimply faced skinny pasty geeks on here couldn't do that....

thats my point. why make an issue about who fits or doesn't fit when we all know that these seats are designed to maximize occupancy.

I agree. I'd like to see a healthier population too. I don't think fat folks have a corner on unhealthy decisions tho...

She just needs to take in less calories than her body needs per day.

The military weight/height chart said I should weigh about one hundred eighty pounds since I am about six feet tall. If I weighed that little, you would be able to play my ribcage like a xylophone.

This is America, dammit! If I want to eat a pound of bacon per day and die with a distended stomach at the ripe old age of 32, that's bloody well my freedom of choice to do so, isn't it?

PS - Pass the bacon

Yes..they need to charge them more for airline seats. Or at least give me a discount for invasion of my space.
