Germen Shepherd (now dead but the only dog that was totally mine and not a family dog) - Sit, Down, Stay, Bark, Whisper (quiet bark), Come, Heel (as in walk around behind you and sit beside you), Heel (when walking, stay next to you and don't pull the leash) Front (go from heel position to sitting in front of and pointed at you), Open Door (if door isn't latched, put nose against and push), Roll over (only on side because he was too big to make rolling over comfortable. He was a 120lbs German Shepherd, and no that wasn't because he was fat), Go Get-em! (Play hide-n-go seek with him. Everyone would hide, and then when you said "Go Get-em" he would run around the house and find people. He would remember who he had found also😀 When he was done, he would come back and sit in the living room again), Fetch, Bring Me The Stick! (When he didn't bring it all the way back from a fetch because he was lazy), Bite-em in the Butt! (Could tell him this and he would give a small nip to somones butt. Didn't hurt, so it was just a fun game), Move (move from where he was to somewhere else), Go (with pointed finger. Go where finger was pointing), Wait (like when you held a treat in front of his nose, he would wait till you said OK), Shake (shake hands).
I'm sure I am forgetting some... he died a few years back. Best dog ever. All the above was very easy to teach him. He picked anything up really quick (even Whisper took him only about two days with about an hour or so each day of teaching).
Also, he taught himself a few things. This includes:
Walk - He knew what this meant, even when we spelled it.
Dinner - He knew what this meant (including spelling), plus he knew what time dinner time was (he would always look at his bowl around 6:00).
Treat - Knew this word
Go to the bathroom - He would always sit at the door and whine at us when he had to go pee. Self taught. So we never had to worry about taking him out. He would tell us when he needed too 🙂
Sit on the couch - He would sit on the couch like a person (butt on couch, feet on ground). A real crack up 😀. He liked to sit at the couch when we were eating at the dinner table like we were going to set him a dinner plate, or when we watched a movie.
