Question to all who uses IBM laptops, PCMCIA question

What pcmcia chip do you guys have? I mean on the system tab. Mine is Ricoh 476.

The reason I ask this is because I just bought USB2, Firewire combo PCMCIA from BAFO and the firewire just freezes when transferring files from my desktop to my IBM laptop.

I try the card on my Compaq which uses Texas Instrument chip and it works just fine.

Is there anyway I can upgrade the chip version on it?

Thanks

Your only hope would be to find an updated driver, but you would probably have better luck trying to find a newer driver for the USB/1394 card rather than the PCMCIA controller.

My T41 is a TI PCI-4520.

Don't know anything about your card, sorry.

I'd say look for a driver for the card or try finding someone on the net that has a similar problem. Try google's groups search.

that's what I thought but there is no driver update for the card since BAFO itself doesn't list any driver for it.

I guess I just return this one.

What's the chance IBM let me change the pcmcia controller with the TI one?

Thanks

that's one thing that I don't know. I guess I have no luck with this BAFO pcmcia card. I think I have to return it.

thanks a lot guys

much appreciate it
