Question regarding Zalman CNPS 7700CU/ALCU and mobo's/cases

Hello All,

Currently I have a decently overclocked Intel P4C system that makes a jet engine of a noise...for my next build ~6months my aim is for power BUT quiet as well. I simply cannot stand this ratchet anymore.

I am definitely looking at the Zalman 7700 ALCU but, as I had with the 7000 ALCU, I am worried about it fitting on the motherboard and also the case!

It has some stringent needs space wise. Does anyone have a list somewhere about what motherboards it WILL fit on? All it lists on their site is some measurements, which isn't that useful in my own opinion.

Also What would be a good case?

I will be looking at getting something along the lines of the latest core (venice?) and o/c it to the max...or until I'm comfortable. Do not think I'll go dual core as I am a gamer versus a media/content creation sort of person.

So, in essense, has anyone had personal experience with that monster and, if so, what case have you used?

I also will have something along the lines of the 7800gtx 🙂 (i've had my 9700pro for 3+ years now!) and 3 Hardrives (36GB raptor, 200GB WD, 400GB Seagate)

I would rather the case have 120MM fans versus 50-> 80 MM fans.

I have the Antec Sonata now but just by looking at the innards of the case I can tell this thing would be way too small for that cooler. How would the Antec P160 do?

Thanks all!!!

I think the Antec P180 has good sound insulation, cooling, and will fit the 7700. I need something quite also, the Prescott needs a lot of air however. I think the Zalman site lists compatible mobos/chips.
