Question regarding this laptop.

If anyone wouldn't mind answering a few questions about this laptop, it would be much appreciated. I am currently looking for a laptop to bump a few games such as DoD Source, possibly BF2142. I am an avid desktop PC builder and software nerd and have a few questions regarding laptops.

Acer Aspire AS5630

My mother is currently running a P4 3.2GHz, 512mb ram w/ ATI Mobility Radeon X300. I can run DoD Source, BF2 on it on low settings with minimal lag. I am wondering how this nVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 would handle those few games. This seems to be like a deal and a half.

They will run fine, you might have to reduce quality to medium or so... I'm running on x1600 ATI and most games run decent. I can run CS:Source just fine @ 1280 x 800.

Is that the only notebook you can get?

for that budget, you can get nicer notebooks from dell/hp with better graphics chip.

Seriously, Go 7300 is not that great.

Yeah, I took a look at Dell and HP, but the thing is... the L2 Cache is 2MB which will help out tremendosly.

My friend also has a Acer Ferrari 4000, which is almost similar, just: AMD Turion? 64 Mobile Technology ML-37 (1MB L2 cache, 2.0GHz). Also has a X800 and he can run BF2, and WoW perfectly. So I am guessing this is a good deal.

The Core2Duo and the 2gb DDR2 are nice but like AznSensation said, the Go 7300 will be your bottleneck in that laptop.
I'm pretty sure that x800 >> Go 7300
