Question regarding pharmacies

I filled a script at CVS a month ago and the Rite Aide pharmacist mentioned the script while filling a different script today. Is there like some sort of network that all pharmacies share? I'm just curious as I rarely use pharmacies and don't really know the system.

Yes they do. It helps to make sure that you're not filling a script that may have dangerous side effects with your other scripts... it also keeps you from filling the same script over and over again.

In most states there's a script database. The Feds provided money for this about 4 years ago.
